IMPORTANT
NOTE: Never assume the directory structures exist in your system
as written in the document. Never blindly follow security
instructions -- read, review, compare, apply as it fits your
system.
You have three choices to keep your servers up to date:
- Do it yourself or have an in-house person do it
- Outsource it to a company like
We Manage Servers.
- Use the RedHat
Update Network (which can also be combined with A); if on Windows,
utilize the Microsoft Update feature.
In any event, you should apply patches on a regular
basis.
If you are using the RedHat Update Network, you should
log in on a regular basis to see if any of your systems needs updates.
If you are using Microsoft Windows Update, please note
that patches from Microsoft may kill your server; test the patches first.

Positive Software's documentation on the up2date tool.
