New service offering -- secure email
By Peter M. Abraham
July 2003
If you are on any of our UNIX shared
hosting plans, you can now send and receive email that is encrypted via a
digital ID using SSL. If you use this new feature, your email will be
encrypted from and to our e-mail servers.
There are two pluses to this new service
offering:
-
You can probably use your existing
email program like
Microsoft
Outlook,
Microsoft Outlook Express, and
Eudora.
-
You can use this new feature without
any additional fees.
An important point to remember is that if the contacts
you are emailing do not have secure email on their side, only half of the
communication will be secure (encrypted).
Your email from and to our e-mail servers will be encrypted. But if
the recipient is not using secure e-mail, then from the e-mail server to
their machine will be normal (non-secure, unencrypted).
We've prepared
written instructions
including program screen shots to walk you through setting up your email
program to use our digital ID to encrypt email you send and receive.
If the persons you need to e-mail most
securely are on an email service which does not offer secure encrypted
email, think of our
Refer a Friend Program, and refer them to our hosting services.
That way all parties involved can email back and forth securely knowing
their email is encrypted along the journey.
Please feel free to contact us with any
questions.
